Bitcoin Has Activated Taproot Soft Fork Upgrade

Taproot was announced by Bitcoin core developer Greg Maxwell in 2018, and will significantly increase the flexibility of Bitcoin smart contracts by combining Schnorr signatures with Merkle Abstract Syntax Trees (MAST) and the new Tapscript scripting language, while enhancing Bitcoin's privacy and scalability.
