Why NFTs, Not DeFi, Will Bring Ethereum Into the Mainstream?

You can hardly go online without reading about NFTs. NFTs represent provable ownership of scarce digital art, and they're taking the world by storm. Celebrities are minting their own NFTs, friends are promoting their projects left and right, and new platforms are announcing every day. Some of my friends who had no interest in crypto are now asking me: "Hey, what do you think about NFTs?" They never once asked about DeFi. Why is the world of NFTs more accessible to ordinary users than DeFi? These are my thoughts.
